At Kuzushi Fightwear, we’re not just building a brand — we’re building a legacy that starts on the mats and carries into everyday life.
Born from our family’s obsession with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kuzushi was created by athletes who live and breathe this sport — from early-morning drilling sessions to open mats, from after hours garage rolls to evenings spent helping the next generation of kids and family weekends travelling to competitions. Every session, every roll, every shared moment fuels the heart behind what we create.
Our name, Kuzushi, means “to break balance” — the first step to every throw, every sweep, every victory. It’s more than technique — it’s a mindset. We believe in disrupting comfort zones, pushing past limits, and creating gear that embodies the strength, resilience, and discipline that Jiu-Jitsu builds.
We’re Mark and Lauren Engelhardt — a husband-and-wife team, parents, training partners, and lifelong competitors.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has become more than our sport; it’s our family’s way of life. Between Mark’s relentless drive on the mats and Lauren’s love for both competing and coaching, Kuzushi was born out of pure passion.
We wanted to create this company because we were tired of gear that couldn’t keep up with the way we train, move, and live. We needed fightwear that could handle the grind — the sweat, the rolls, the countless hours our family puts in — and still look and feel good doing it.
Our children — Emmerit, Parker, and Envy — are just as much a part of this journey as we are. From cheering us on, to before bedtime rolls in their pjs to competing themselves, they’re growing up surrounded by discipline, confidence, and community. Kuzushi isn’t just our brand — it’s our family’s legacy in motion.
